Leaderboards & Challenges

Help your favorite college or university earn additional bonus donations toward their fundraising efforts by registering for their Dance Marathon, making a donation through their fundraising page, or helping to spread the word about their efforts for their local children’s hospital.

Program Registration Challenge:

The Dance Marathon programs that register the most dancers on Child Health Day will win a portion of $10,000 toward their program’s fundraising total. The prize will be distributed among the top program in each tier(*) in proportion with the number of people they register on Child Health Day.

Best Program “Funds In Action” Post:

The Dance Marathon program that has the best post, as judged by CMN Hospitals staff members, on at least one of their digital/social media channels that describes why children’s hospitals need support and how donations make an impact at their local hospital will receive $1,000 for their program. The post may include graphics, photos, a video, or a blog post and must contain the hashtag #CommitForTheKids. For a post to be considered, please e-mail a link to the post to dmmedia@cmnhospitals.org by 5:00pm PT on Monday, Oct. 1 with the subject line “CHD Funds in Action Post – [School Name].” (#)

Best 10 Individual “I #CommitForTheKids because…” Posts:

Dance Marathon participants are encouraged to post on social media explaining why they personally commit For The Kids and fundraise for their local hospital with the statement “I #CommitForTheKids because…” The top 10 posts, as judged by CMN Hospitals staff members, will receive a $100 donation on their personal fundraising page. The post may include graphics, photos, a video, or a link and must contain the hashtag #CommitForTheKids. (#)

The Dance Marathon program that creates the best original video, as judged by CMN Hospitals staff members, to promote their efforts on Child Health Day will receive $2,500 for their program. The video should relate to the theme “Commit For The Kids” and include at least one of the three calls to action: Join, Give, and/or Spread The Word. The video must be shared on social media and must contain the hashtag #CommitForTheKids. For a post to be considered, please e-mail a link to the post to dmmedia@cmnhospitals.org by 5:00pm PT on Monday, Oct. 1 with the subject line “CHD Program Video – [School Name].” (#)

Best On-Campus Awareness Campaign:

The Dance Marathon program that implements the best on campus awareness campaign, as judged by CMN Hospitals staff members, to promote their efforts on Child Health Day will receive $2,500 toward their program’s fundraising total. The campaign should relate to the theme “Commit For The Kids” and include at least one of the three calls to action: Join, Donate, and/or Spread The Word. To be considered, campaign plans should be submitted to your program’s respective Dance Marathon Manager by Friday, Sept. 21 at 5:00pm PT.

(*) Programs will be competing with other programs in their same tier:

  • Tier 1: Programs hosting their inaugural Dance Marathon event during the 2018-2019 academic year.
  • Tier 2: Programs that raised up to $29,999 in 2017-2018.
  • Tier 3: Programs that raised between $30,000 and $74,999 in 2017-2018.
  • Tier 4: Programs that raised between $75,000 and $199,999 in 2017-2018.
  • Tier 5: Programs that raised between $200,000 and $449,999 in 2017-2018.
  • Tier 6: Programs that raised over $450,000 in 2017-2018.

The prize donations for the winning programs will be sent directly to the programs’ respective hospitals. Programs are strongly encouraged to use the prize donations to further grow their fundraising and awareness efforts in ways such as:

  • Matching participant donations through a matching campaign.
  • Working with your hospital to use the funds to make purchases to enhance your events, incentivize fundraisers, market your program, etc.
  • Working with your hospital to use the funds to boost your reach through social media ad buys.

(#) – Posts on social media must be published from personal or program channels that have open/public privacy settings so that CMN Hospitals staff can see them and consider them in the challenges.
